South East Queensland Mash Up - Chillertek Style

Okay sports fans, as you may have seen HERE, Chillertek has been and conquered South East Queensland (SEQ).
He has pretty much covered it all but here is the trip from my angle.....to go with his full-blown write up.

Prepping for little Bro's arrival.

And so it begins.....

First stop - iconic Mt Glorious food!

Inside decore. Bikes and planes....it could be my place!

Two superb athletes tucking in.......

View from the table.

PEI Road fun.

Mt Mee lookout

Chiller NOT wheelie-ing for a change...

Getting slightly lost at Villeneuve.... oh, the memories.....

Climbing the Peachester Range rd...stuck behind a truck doing 10km/h.....

Peachester Range Rd...definitely NOT stuck behind a truck!! Woo Hoo!!

Dropping into the Postman (Pat's) Track.

Steep as fcuk Postman's Track.

The Postman's Track eventually opened out.

2WD monster spotted at the Kenilworth fuel stop.

Cristini AWD close up.

Getting hosed on coming into Pomona for the night.

Pomona Hotel. Worst hospitality I have experienced in a pub in years. Pro tip - give it a huuuuuge miss.....

But they do have the stupidly-biggest steaks I have ever seen. Pro tip - try smaller steaks and bigger service in future.

Bailing out of Pomona we tagged onto this conga-line. Must be the right road then?!

Yeah, this is the right road!!

Kin Kin mighty breakfast.

'Kin bikes everywhere!!

Cooran views. Pity about the showers. Some slips for both of us along this road. Oil/diesel on the road?

Ye Olde Bruce Highway. Thanks to Netrider members for the road tips.

We NEED rain but really, does it have to be today?

Maleney - Montville ridge road rest stop.

Multistrada Matt - top bloke for braving the wet roads and tourists to come say G'day.

Chillertek excited by the big pointy plugs.

School mate Aussie Hodgo joined us for a few hundred k's....and an ale taster.

Mt Lindsay - Mt Lindsay Highway. Damn, Hodgo can punt that AT...and on knobbies as well!!!

You.MUST.Stay.Here. Hospitality with a capital fcukin' H.

Early light in Yabbra State Forest.

Mid - arse caning photo stop on the Old Bonalbo Rd.

Waiting for Steve to be finished with his arse caning.....

Aussie bush burned to a crisp by the Tabulum fires.

Taking in the destruction. Bruxner Highway twisties.

Howling back down the range after a Tenterfield breakfast.

Crossing the old, looking across to the new. Tabulum, NSW.

The second worst road that we rode. Glad I wasn't on the arse caning R1!!

I had him on these "Z" roads.

Time for a cold drink in Bonalbo.

Trying not to stand near the R1 just prior to the Tooloom rd.

Tooloom Road outlook. Worst.Road.Surface.EVER. (on an R1 anyway)

Smoothest bit of Tooloom Rd.

Yes, oxygen IS vital. Right in front of decent roads. They are vital too.

Trucky giving us some room on Tooloom Rd. Me (up the road) not needing a second invitation!

Chillertek making a dash for the Beemer again.....

Killarney Hotel refuel.

Watching the world roll by at the Killarney Hotel.

Cool little town that.

Climbing the head road.....

...and skirting the border fence.....NSW on the right, QLD on the left....

to The Head!

Carr's Lookout. "The Head" behind his head.....

Beautiful country around Uki.

Chillertek chilling in Chillingham......

Springbrook Raceway......errr..... Road.

Gearing up on Springbrook rd.

Beechmont coffee shop front deck.

My new go-to coffee-ride destination!!

Rules, rules and more rules. They are everywhere.

However, these rules I can follow! The small explosions we could hear down in the gully reinforced the signs.

Home safely after 1600km, chilling out with a cold drink.

Thanks for coming up for a ride Bro. It was a great few days on the bikes and I hope you had fun. It reinforced to me how diverse AND just how close these great roads are to where I live. We didn't go outside of a 200km(120mi) radius of home, yet we did 1600km!
I can see I will be putting a lot more kilometres on the exploration machine in the coming months.

Cheers.

    1. Yeah...but I think you have seen the light. Sports bikes are like high heels. They look sexy but you can’t go anywhere in them! You’ll be on a Beemer GS and smoking a pipe before you know it.....;)

  2. Great summary of the trip Dave. Sounds like you two had entirely too much fun and saw some beautiful sights.
