I minted the draft for this post waaay back on the 5th of June after Steve and I had gone on an impromptu adv ride at the very end of May. The inspiration came from the unfortunate attendance of a funeral for a much loved work colleague who only a few weeks earlier had complained of extremely sore legs. An investigation revealed advanced pancreatic cancer and Marty was gone a mere two weeks later.
Fcuk.
You just don't know how much time you have left on this free floating zoo so these reminders come along every now and again. As long as it isn't oneself being the reminder, then we are able to do something about it. That "something" was a call to my brother to twist his arm into coming along with me the following weekend for an adv ride. It didn't take much twisting to be honest.
It was going to be bitterly cold but the weather looked clear. Cold and clear? We could do that - even if we were going to be camping.
Steve scrambled around and bought a quality sleep mat and with the rest of his basic stuff was good to go.
I rode down the Pacific Highway to Coopernook on the Friday and was several beers deep with a local KTM 1190 rider by the time Steve arrived.
I'll let him take up the story from here as he has produced two excellent little YouTube videos of our weekend. Please enjoy....and thanks little Bro!
