Well, it was off to the Gold Coast MTB Club's cross country track at Illinbah today for the second round in the Queensland Sunshine Series. Even though I am attacking this series totally tongue in cheek, I was a little apprehensive at the prospect of taking on what is supposedly the toughest track in the series. To add to the nervousness, it was the morning after 30mm of rain had been dumped on it. I was wishing that Crossmark tyre I fitted to the front yesterday was a Kenda Nevegal instead!
The start of 'C' grade mens
Mid race and the mud was taking it's toll
Looks like the kids had as much fun as I did!
This is how the Elite riders demolished the course.
So, done and dust....er...muddied, I finished with all my bark where it is meant to be (on me!) with only a few small sections of the trail that were tackled on foot. As for finishing position I like the word "upright" so whatever number is assigned to me when the results come out will be fine. Fun was the number one goal today and that was achieved.
